Christmas Letter 2012

Dear Friends and Family,

We have had another busy year. The time has flown by and our children just keep growing. But as always we are grateful for this Christmas season where we can reflect on how much we have been blessed with and we would like to share those blessings with you.

Derrick- I am grateful for the upcoming event in May.  I am grateful for our two boys that have simultaneously increased my joy in life and my stress level. I am grateful for our soon to be daughter Ashlynn. I am grateful for my stunning, stylish and sexy wife. I am grateful for tithing. I am grateful everyday that I can wake up next to the woman I love, that I can fall asleep next to the woman I love and that I can leach her warmth on a cold winter night.

Catherine- I am so grateful for my Savior and the wonderful sacrifice he made for me. I am grateful for my handsome husband who is an awesome father and a great support to me. I would not be able to do half of the things that I do if it was not for him. I am grateful for my boys who make me smile but at the same time make me crazy. I am so grateful to be healthy and to be having a healthy baby girl I can’t wait to dress her in pink. I am grateful for the 2 ½ hours that Jayden is at preschool. I am so grateful for a beautiful house, great friends who watch the boys for me, and a loving family who support us each day. I am grateful I get to work with the Primary children at church and that I can learn and grow from them. And I am grateful for eternal families and that I was able to see two of my sisters be sealed to their spouses this year.

Jayden- I am grateful for sports and school. I am grateful for water and ice, I am grateful for toys, movies and Backyardigins. I am grateful for all the wonderful places on earth. I am grateful for wonderful plants. I am grateful for church and our house. I am grateful for ice cream. I am grateful that Heavenly Father created us. I am grateful that Heavenly Father can control the weather. I am grateful for music. I am grateful for the beautiful stars, moon and sun.  And I am grateful for mommy, daddy and Bubba

Brennan- I am grateful for milk. I am grateful for kisses. I am grateful for basketball. I am grateful for blocks. I am grateful for the library. I am grateful for mommy, daddy and Jayden (Jee Jee). And I am grateful for puzzles especially on mommy’s phone.

From a Father's Perspective

I just found this in some old blog drafs and thought I would post it. I didn't even kno whe had written this

From a Father's Perspective:

I was at work and received a call from Catherine saying she had been having contractions since 10:00am. It was very close to noon when she called. I went home and at 1:30pm we were at the clinic when our midwife checked her dilation progress. She said, 'Guess what number she's at?' It just so happened that she was at a 7.5. We decided it would be best if we went to the hospital. It took us 10 minutes to get there and by the time we got there Catherine was at a 9. We spent a total of 1 hour (more or less) in the delivery room, and 19 minutes of pushing and then...we were parents.

Catherine was great. She didn't use any medications and I was so amazed at how well she handled the pain. I was so impressed with her.

Jayden was 7lbs 3oz, 19 inches long. He has a head full of black hair. He's pretty calm, rarely cries (at least for now) and really likes to nurse. It's good to be home where we feel comfortable.

It's a little overwhelming thinking that I'll be a father for eternity - but somehow...it just feels right.

Happy Birthday B Man

Can you believe it has been two years since this little man was born

Bman loves sports so I made him a sports cake although he ate a big chunk out of it before I was able to frost it completely. This was my patch job.
He enjoyed his birthday cake a lot. That is what he was asking for all day
This is his cute outfit from nana. He was posing by saying a prayer when I took his picture.

This is his adorable sports outfit from my parents. He loves it can calls it his football clothes.

But by far the winning present of the day was this tunnel from his aunt Kelsey and uncle Ty. Both boys love playing in it.

Here are somethings about B-Man
1. He really loves letters right now and almost knows them all. He loves to learn and knows most of his shapes and quite a few colors
2. He loves to run and play outside that is one of his favorite places to be
3. He loves sports and tries to play different ones all the time
4. He is very friendly and loves to play with all children. He is daring and will try almost anything
5. He loves animals, dancing and music
6. Most of all he loves his big brother and always wants to be around him. He cries whenever we drop Jman at school.

We love you Bman and we are excited to watch you grow each day.

Happy Birthday JBug

It's hard to believe that this little baby....
has turned into this big four year old

Grandma and Grandpa Jackson hit the jackpot by getting him a cash register that he has "always" wanted
He just loved this present

He asked me for a cello cake for his birthday. Not bad huh?

This big boy got bike for his birthday he is sure loving it

Just a little bit about Jayden
  • He loves music and is very gifted with it. He has a wonderful singing voice and stays on pitch very well. He can hear key changes in music and can pick out what instrument is playing.
  • He is super smart and is reading level 1-2 books right now
  • He is very loving and is always there with a big hug and a kiss
  • He has a very witty sense of humor and is enjoying plays on words which I get a kick out of
  • He is passionate in all he does
  • He loves to dance and loves to laugh
We love you and all you have become and will be.

Christmas Letter 2011

Dear Friends and Family,

We hope you have had a wonderful year. Ours has been one of many blessings and we would like to share with you what we are grateful for this year.

Derrick: This has been a great year...so many things to be thankful for. Let me start by saying that I'm very grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I revere Him, I try to pattern my life after Him and I anchor my faith in Him. Next I'm infinitely grateful for my wife. She's beautiful, an amazing mother, and she still makes my heart flutter when she smiles at me. She does so much to help me remain positive and to see the good in others. I'm so glad for our children as well. They have such wonderful senses of humor. I can already tell that they'll be the kids with "...if they could limit the amount of talking they do..." statements in their report cards. They really make me smile each day and I love them eternally. The gospel really is a wonderful thing and I'm so glad that it has been restored and we can enjoy its fullness. With it we gain knowledge of temples. covenants and promises we make to Heavenly Father and also an Understanding of the power of the priesthood and how it blesses everyone's lives. This has been a great year for work as well. I've recently celebrated my anniversary with my emplyer and it's amazing how bid a difference a good job makes. Heavenly Father has certainly taken care of us in this aspect. And let me just say that I'm so very grateful for babysitter!! What a huge blessing, they keep me sane...literally.

Catherine: I ahave so much to be grateful for it is always hard to put it in words. But first and foremost I am gratedul for my Savior Jesus Christ who through his sacrifice gives me strength each day. I am so grateful for my handsome husband who supports me in all that I do. He really is a wonderful man who is a great example for our children. When he was gone for a week I realized even more how much he helps me and makes me happy. I am grateful for my boys even though we have tough times some days I can always count on their smiles and laughter to make me happy. I am grateful for having a temple close to us and one being built even closer and I am grateful that I have been sealed to my husband and our family can be together forever. I am grateful for the knowledge of the gospel that I have and the good news that Jesus really did die for me. I am grateful for wonderful family members who bring joy and happiness into our lives. I am so grateful for our new home and our wonderful neighborhood. It is so nice to live somewhere that there is a good community feeling and that we feel safe in. I am grateful for the new friends we have made and the dear old friends we have. I am grateful for my calling and the children I get to work with each week. And while this may be a little more temporal than the rest I am most definitely grateful that Jayden is potty trained. Whoo only one diaper to change now.

Jayden: I am grateful for Heavenly Father he makes me happy. I am grateful for story time, music and songs I made up. I am grateful for candy, food, my hippo and the clock. I am grateful for Ms. Kristy and library books. I am grateful that it is dark.

Brennan ( As observed by mom and dad): I am grateful for milk and bananas. I am grateful for stuffed animals to cuddle. I am grateful I have learned some sign language. I am grateful for my brother to play with. I am grateful for music and dancing. I am grateful for cuddlind mom and dad.
