Picnic and Updates

Fun bath time.

We received the results from Jayden's blood test back, And I am happy to report that there were no traces of lead in his blood. Yay!! The rest of his blood count is also normal however it is on the low side of normal so there is still a possiblity that he may have anemia. In the mean time we have been working with him to try and help him pull up and we have been feeding him high calorie foods to bulk him up.
We have been having an enjoyable time with the beautiful weather as well. Jayden and I went on a picnic lunch and then played at the park with a friend of mine from church and her son who is just three days older than Jayden. Look how much bigger than Jayden he is. I have also included some bath pictures. They are just too cute not to post. That is about all of the updates we have for now.

Crawling, Standing and Dr. Appointment

Jayden finally started bearing weight on his legs about two weeks ago. And last week he started army crawling so now we have a mobile baby. He is getting fast. I have included a video we took of his new skill. I think it is hilarious how he is crying because we won't just give him the paper and we are making him work for it. (Yes we are letting our child play with paper what can I say he loves it.)

We just had Jayden's 9 month Dr. visit. Here are his stats:

Weight: 16 lb <5th>

Length: 27 3/4 in. 30th percentile

The doctor is a little worried about his weight. He hasn't gained any weight since seven months. I find this very suprising because he eats a lot. The doctor said it could be that since he is now active that he is burning off the weight. He recommened feeding him high calorie foods so he can put on weight and also to make sure he is getting food from every food group. He also had Jayden get his blood drawn to check for anemia (which I have so it wouldn't surpise me if he has it) and to check for lead levels. He said lead poisoning could cause developmental delays and low weight and we do live in a older place that could have lead paint I sure hope this is not the case. If Jayden is anemic we will just have to give him iron supplements. But as far as the lead goes I am not sure what we are supposed to do if that is the case. I didn't even think to ask about that. The doctor said he looks healthy and cognitively he is doing well but he is still just a little behind the average for gross motor milestones. So we will have another appointment in six weeks to check his weight and development. Overall though we are doing well and are loving life.

At the park

First time in a swing
This past week we were up in Spokane Washington for Derrick's brother Joe's wedding. It was a wonderful ceremony and we were excited to be there. We are so happy for Joe and we are so excited to have Michelle in our family. We had an enjoyable time visiting with all of Derrick's family. We were also able to stop in Idaho Falls and see my siblings there. It was fun.
Jayden and I also went to the park recently where he got to have his first experience in the swing I think he really liked it. We also took Jayden swimming for the first time. He was a little unsure at first but then really liked it. I also included some other random shots of Jayden that I thought were pretty cute.

Happy Easter!!

The most important part of Easter, Christ

Easter eggs with candy

The three of us with our eggs

Don't they look great

Jayden in his Easter suit

Jayden after finding an egg. His face in this picture cracks me up

Trying hard to pick up that egg
For the most part we had an enjoyable Easter together. On Saturday we went to an Easter egg hunt sponsored by Derrick's work. Jayden was able to take a picture with the Easter bunny and to find an egg. It was fun. Although it was a little chilly and by the end Jayden was ready to go. I started to feel sick and then throughout the rest of the day I was unable to keep anything down. I am still not quite sure what it was but I think it was food poisoning.
I was still feeling a little sick on Sunday so we didn't have anything too big for dinner. Jayden was able to wear his suit jacket from our friend Lisa for the first time on Sunday. It is obviously still a little big so he was going Miami Vice style. But I still think he looked great. Also on Sunday I taught a lesson about the Savior. I think it was a wonderful way for me to focus on the true meaning of Easter.
Since I was feeling sick on Saturday and Sunday we painted our eggs for FHE last night. It was fun spending time together as a family and we gave Jayden a plastic cup to play with and he was as happy as a clam.

I do want to express my deep gratitude for the Savior. I know that he really did die for me personally and that he did so because he loves me. I know that through his great sacrifice it makes it possible for me to repent and to try to become better each day. I also know that he knows all of my pain and sorrow and that he can give me comfort when I seek it. I know that Jesus lives and that he did rise from the tomb that Easter Morning.

Music of the Night

For Christmas Derrick bought us tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera. We went to the Denver Center for Performing arts to see the show. It was a wonderful production and we had a lot of fun. Although there were two points to the evening that were not as fun.
First the lady sitting next to me kept crinkling candy wrappers through the whole performance. And second we went to dinner afterwards but their food was less than ideal. Other than that it was a great night. Unfortunately our camera wasn't working so we were not able to take pictures but I have included some that I found on the internet thanks to Google. Overall we had a wonderful time together.

Mommy Bootcamp

Jayden sitting up all by himself. The pillows are to cushion his fall

Tired out from all the hard work

Jumping in his Johnny Jump Up

For the past couple of weeks I have been working hard with Jayden to help him meet some of the milestones he was behind in. I have been asking everyone for advice and reading a lot of books. I think it has paid off. Jayden has been sitting by himself and rolling over. He still isn't bearing weight on his legs but now thanks to the Johnny Jump up he loves to bounce when you hold him up. So at least he is using his legs and building up strength . I know I had posted a video of him rolling before but he really didn't roll much after that. But now he is doing it like a champ. I was going to post another video but I couldn't get it to work. so hopefully I can later. He is also babbling a ton and it is so cute. He may be our little jabber mouth.

6th month Check up

Jayden had his six month check up yesterday here are his stats:

Weight 14lb 13 1/2 oz 8th percentile

Length 26 1/4 inches 45th percentile

The doctor sayd he looks pretty good however his gross motor skills are a little delayed he said he is about where a five month old is. So we are going to keep an eye on it and check back with him in a month. The doctor isn't too worried yet but said that it is something we need to keep an eye on. He just got a pretty bad cold as well and has been fighting off a fever the past couple of days. That coupled with getting shots yesterday has made for one unhappy boy and two tired parents.
